AI 'architects' are TIME magazine's Person of the Year

  TIME magazine has announced its 2025 Person of the Year. The annual award goes to a group of people: the "architects of AI". The accolade is bestowed on "the person or persons who most affected the news and our lives, for good or ill, and embodied what was important about the year, for better or for worse". Some of these architects appear on TIME's two cover photos. They include the CEOs of Google DeepMind, Meta, Nvidia, OpenAI, and Tesla. TIME said the technology magnates brought about "one of the biggest physical infrastructure projects of all time." It described 2025 as the year that AI "roared into view," showing its world-changing potential. TIME's editor-in-chief, Sam Jacobs, commented on the decision to recognize the AI architects.  On December 14, 2025 , renowned American filmmaker Rob Reiner , 78, and his wife, Michele Singer Reiner , 70, were found dead in their Brentwood, Los Angeles home with apparent stab wounds. Authorities later charged their 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner , with two counts of first-degree murder in connection with the fatal stabbings. Nick was arrested without incident and is currently held without bail as prosecutors decide whether to seek the death penalty or life imprisonment . The $1 Bank Robber (December 18)

 In June 2011, James Richard Verone, a 59-year-old man from North Carolina, committed a very unusual crime. He walked into a bank and asked for only one dollar and medical help . Verone had worked for 17 years as a Coca-Cola delivery driver. When he lost his job, he also lost his health insurance. Later, he worked in a small convenience store, but his health became much worse. He suffered from chronic back pain , arthritis, foot pain, and a visible growth on his chest . Before the crime, Verone sent a letter to his local newspaper. In the letter, he said that he was not mentally ill, but that his body was very sick. His plan was to go to jail so he could receive medical care. On June 9, Verone took a taxi to a bank. He did not have a weapon. He gave the teller a note asking for one dollar, then sat down and waited for the police. When they arrived, he was arrested calmly.
