A Coldplay concert's 'kiss cam' sparked a scandal for Astronomer executives. CEO Andy Byron resigned after the viral video revealed an affair with Chief People Officer Kristin Cabot, who also later stepped down. The incident led to public scrutiny and discussions about workplace ethics.
A seemingly lighthearted moment at a Coldplay concert has triggered a major controversy involving two high-ranking executives at the tech company Astronomer. And following the controversy which has gained people's attention across the world, Kristin Cabot, the company's Chief People Officer, has now officially resigned-- just days after the firm's CEO, Andy Byron, also stepped down. Their exits follow a now viral video clip that captured them appearing overly intimate on Coldplay's kiss cam' during a performance near Boston on July 16, 2025.
As the concert unfolded, the stadium's camera focused on Cabot and Byron. The pair attempted to hide their faces, prompting Coldplay frontman Chris Martin to joke that they might be engaged in a secretive romance. The light teasing turned into a viral moment when viewers identified the duo as high profile executives at Astronomer. The footage quickly spread online, leading to speculation, criticism, and an onslaught of public scrutiny for both the individuals and the company--as both Kristin and Andy were indeed having an affair outside of their respective marriages!
By July 19, Andy Byron had resigned from his role as CEO, with the company's board accepting his decision amid growing concerns over the brand's reputation and workplace ethics. In an official statement, Astronomer announced, "Andy Byron has tendered his resignation, and the Board of Directors has accepted." Co founder and Chief Product Officer Pete DeJoy has since taken over as interim CEO, and a search for a permanent replacement is underway.
Meanwhile, just a few days later, Kristin Cabot also exited the company. A spokesperson confirmed
her resignation, as per reports, stating, "Kristin Cabot is no longer with Astronomer-- she has resigned."
The public fallout was further intensified by revelations about their personal lives. Cabot is married to Andrew Cabot, the CEO of Privateer Rum, and they jointly own a $2.2 million home in New England. Byron, meanwhile, is married to Megan Kerrigan Byron and is a father of two. After the incident, Megan reportedly dropped her husband's surname on Facebook and later deactivated her profile entirely.
While Astronomer has assured customers that its core operations remain unaffected-- "Our work for our customers has not changed," the company noted--the incident has stirred broader conversations about executive conduct, personal boundaries in the workplace, and the far reaching consequences of viral moments in the digital age.
As the dust settles, one thing is clear: Even a brief moment on a kiss cam can change careers, and people's lives, overnight!
