Glovo is a Spanish delivery company. It was founded in Barcelona in 2015 by Oscar Pierre.

At the beginning, the company was small, but its emergence was very fast. Today, Glovo has a strong dominance in many markets.

The idea of Glovo is simple: people can order food, groceries, or medicine. A courier delivers the products quickly to your home.

Glovo uses an app to connect customers, businesses, and couriers. This system creates flexibility for workers because they can choose when they work. However, some people say this system can lead to exploitation, because couriers do not have job security or benefits.

Glovo makes profit from delivery fees and commission from restaurants. Many restaurants use the platform, but some become very dependent on it.

Governments are now creating new regulation to protect workers. The company operates in the gig economy, where people do short-term jobs.

Glovo is very strong in the market. In some places, it is close to a monopoly, and in others, it is part of an oligopoly with companies like Uber Eats and Deliveroo.

EU angers UK by calling Gibraltar a 'colony'

The people of Bougainville in Papua New Guinea have voted overwhelmingly for independence in a referendum. The vote was held on the island between the 23rd of November and the 7th of December.
