The Story of Michael Carroll: A Cautionary Tale of Sudden Wealth

In 2002, Michael Carroll, a 19-year-old garbage collector from Norfolk, England, experienced incredible luck—he won £9.7 million in the UK National Lottery. At the time, Carroll was unemployed, had no bank account, and was wearing an electronic ankle tag due to a previous offense. His parties, often held at his estate, became notorious. They included strippers, fireworks, and endless...

Those weren’t just any shoes. They were Puma boots with that unmistakable curved stripe. Puma had secretly paid Pelé $120,000 (worth $735,000 today) for this single moment. They even paid the cameraman extra to get the perfect close up shot. The result? One of the world’s most legendary and profitable marketing stunts. But here’s where it gets crazy… Puma and Adidas had made something called the “Pelé Pact.” Both companies agreed to NEVER sign the world’s biggest athlete because a b...

The new smoking ban is to protect children from passive smoking. This happens when you breathe in smoke from other people who are smoking. The government wants to create a tobacco-free generation by 2032. This means protecting children today. France's Minister of Health said: "Tobacco must disappear from places where there are children … a park, a beach, a school. These are places to play, learn, and breathe; not for smoking." She added: "The freedom to smoke stops where the right of children to breathe clean air begins." Smoking is slowly falling in France. However, passive smoking still causes up to 5,000 deaths per year. A recent survey showed that 68 per cent of French people support rules to ban smoking in public. They also want bans at outdoor cafes and restauran...
